Matthew found his path in carpentry through a family friend’s apprenticeship opportunity, igniting a natural interest in the craft. Since then, he has honed his skills, particularly proud of his precision with tools like the router table for creating detailed profiles on railings, balusters, and cabinet doors. One of his standout projects was a three-story helical spiral staircase made with western maple and walnut, designed to look like a single, seamless twist of wood—a challenging and beautiful accomplishment.

For Matthew, the best part of his work is the tangible satisfaction of completing a project and knowing he’s crafted something enduring. Outside the shop, he’s passionate about combat sports, including jiu-jitsu, boxing, and MMA. Matthew thrives on the intense honesty and intrinsic challenge in these sports, finding focus and camaraderie on the mats.
